Group Management Accountant
Ready to take ownership of group finance in a fast-growing business? Join PTSG and lead consolidation, reporting and controls across our expanding, acquisition-led Group.
Group Accountant
Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire
Salary: £60,000–£70,000 + benefits
Working pattern: Hybrid – up to two days per week from home
PTSG has grown rapidly through acquisition and now comprises more than 40 specialist businesses operating across five divisions. We are looking for an accomplished Group Accountant who can bring strong technical accounting knowledge and immediately take ownership of several critical Group finance processes.
This is not a developmental position. We need a fully qualified accountant with a strong track record in group accounting, consolidation and financial reporting who is comfortable working independently within a large, complex organisation.
Based within our Central Group Finance team, you will manage the monthly consolidation process, fixed assets and VAT returns while supporting statutory reporting, acquisition accounting and the year-end audit. You will also help standardise accounting practices across the Group, strengthen financial controls and improve how our systems and processes operate.
The role offers considerable exposure across PTSG’s subsidiaries and provides the opportunity to influence accounting standards and processes throughout a growing, acquisition-led business.
What you’ll be doing
Managing the monthly Group consolidation process, including consolidation adjustments.
Driving a timely, controlled and accurate period-end close.
Managing the Group’s fixed assets and reviewing the associated reconciliations.
Ensuring central accounting transactions relating to tax, insurance, professional fees and investments are recorded accurately.
Completing or reviewing assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
Supporting technical accounting matters and the implementation of the Group accounting manual.
Assisting with acquisition accounting as new businesses join the Group.
Acting as a key contact for the external audit and supporting the preparation of two sets of consolidated accounts.
Assisting with unaudited statutory accounts across the Group.
Working with professional advisers on consolidated corporation tax calculations.
Reviewing and improving accounting processes and financial controls.
Identifying opportunities to improve the use of Sage and other finance systems.
Supporting wider finance projects and process improvements.
What we’re looking for
This position requires someone who can operate confidently from the outset and take responsibility for complex Group accounting activities with limited supervision.
You will need:
A recognised accounting qualification – ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
A strong track record in group accounting within a large, multi-entity organisation or centralised Group finance function.
Hands-on responsibility for monthly consolidations and Group reporting.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to apply it in practice.
A sound understanding of balance sheet controls, statutory reporting and audit requirements.
The ability to establish and improve accounting processes and controls.
The confidence to work independently, manage competing deadlines and challenge existing practices when necessary.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with finance teams across multiple businesses.
Knowledge of acquisition accounting, intercompany recharges, Sage or OneStream would be beneficial.
What’s in it for you
Salary of £60,000–£70,000.
Hybrid working, with up to two days per week from home.
25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
Life assurance at three times your salary.
Salary sacrifice pension scheme.
24/7 online GP service.
Discounts on shopping, technology, holidays, meals out, gyms and more.
Free on-site parking.
Our open-plan Castleford head office is approximately five minutes’ walk from the train station, close to the M62 and A1, and has on-site parking.
